Insurance: before the loss, document your belongings; after it, document the damage.
In a claim, one of the difficulties is often to reconstruct what existed before and to document precisely what was damaged. At each of those two moments, Sealway lets you create a proof that binds photographs, videos or documents to a date and to their exact content, with a qualified electronic timestamp under eIDAS.

After a loss, the question is always the same.
What can you produce?
- Was this television really in the living room before the burglary?
- Which model exactly, with which accessories?
- The invoice went up in the fire: what is left?
- What did the room look like right after the water damage, before the clean-up?
- Was this piece of furniture already damaged before the loss?
- When were these photographs taken, and have they been edited?
Two moments, one logic.
The inventory fixes what existed. The damage documentation fixes what was affected, before clean-up or repair. The two complement each other, and each stands on its own.
Why photographs are not always enough.
Service-Public.fr and France Assureurs, the French insurers’ federation, say it the same way: compensation rests on proof of the loss suffered, and the existence as well as the value of belongings may be proven by any means: invoices, warranty slips, certificates, photographs. A photograph is therefore a useful supporting document. Its weakness lies elsewhere: months or years later, the loss adjuster checks the item’s prior condition and the insurer may ask when the photograph was taken; the date the device wrote in the file can be changed in seconds, and nothing establishes that the image has not been retouched.
Sealway addresses that precise point. It replaces no other supporting document: it makes the photographs and documents you keep datable and verifiable, by the insurer, by the loss adjuster or by a court, without depending on you or on Sealway.
What Sealway is not.
Sealway is a tool for building evidence. It establishes that a file existed, in this form, on a given date. Value, ownership, the cause of the loss and the amount of the indemnity are matters for the supporting documents, the loss adjuster and the policy.
- a loss adjuster or insurance expert;
- a valuation or appraisal service;
- proof of ownership or of authenticity;
- a substitute for the invoice, the certificate or the policy;
- a claim-notification tool;
- a way of establishing the cause of a loss or liability.
Two use cases.
Each page covers one moment, with the applicable rules, the useful supporting documents, the practical method, Sealway’s precise role and its limits.

Before an insurer or a loss adjuster, the date of a photograph matters: the date of the inventory, the date of the damage before any intervention. When a proof is created, the fingerprint of each file is bound to a qualified electronic timestamp issued by a qualified trust service provider.
- SHA-512 fingerprint of each file: the proof bears on this exact version; modifying the file changes the fingerprint, and the fingerprint cannot be turned back into the file.
- Qualified electronic timestamp: presumption of accuracy of the date and time and of integrity of the data (eIDAS Regulation, art. 41(2)). The date comes neither from the device nor from Sealway.
- Evidence file verifiable without Sealway: certificate, manifest, timestamp token and fingerprints, with the references of the anchoring on public blockchains.
