How do you create a proof? Two ways, depending on what you want to date.

Photos, videos, audio and documents

From the app, mobile or web

Take a photo or a video in the mobile app, or import existing files, an audio recording or a PDF for instance, from your phone or your browser. Up to 10 files in one proof.

Email and attachments

From your mailbox, in BCC

Keep Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail. When you send, add your Sealway address in the BCC field: Sealway receives its own copy of the message and its attachments, and timestamps it. Your recipients see nothing different.

    A date that does not depend on you

    A qualified electronic timestamp, issued by a trust service provider under the eIDAS Regulation, attests that your files existed, as they are, no later than that date and time. The same fingerprint is also anchored on public blockchains: a second trace, independent of the provider.

    Files anyone can check are unchanged

    Each file gets a fingerprint, a code computed from its exact content. Change one pixel and the fingerprint changes. The certificate carries those fingerprints, not a copy of your files.

    Verifiable by whoever you hand it to

    Insurer, client, expert or judge: whoever receives your evidence file can check the files against the certificate with our online tools or any compatible software, with no account and without going through Sealway. Nothing is published: verification starts from the evidence file you choose to hand over.

What does it prove? What the evidence file establishes, and what it does not say.

A Sealway proof bears on files, a date and their integrity. It replaces neither an official report, nor registered mail, nor an expert’s opinion.

It establishes

  • that these files existed, as they are, no later than the date and time of the timestamp;
  • that a file shown later is the one that was timestamped, unchanged;
  • for an email: the text, the attachments and the recipients shown in the copy Sealway received, as it existed no later than the time of the timestamp.

It does not establish

  • that what a photograph or a document shows is true;
  • the original creation date of an imported file, only that it existed no later than the date of the timestamp;
  • that an email was received or read by its recipients;
  • who the author of a creative work is, nor any right over it.

The court assesses freely the material put before it. The evidence file gives it a date and an integrity that depend on none of the parties.

A proof is only worth something if it can be checked without depending on Sealway. That is the starting principle.

Qualified electronic timestamp

Issued by a qualified trust service provider under the eIDAS Regulation. The date, the time and the integrity of the data enjoy a presumption: whoever disputes them has to prove the contrary.

Verification without Sealway

The evidence file holds everything needed to recompute the fingerprints and check the timestamp token, with our online tools or any compatible software.

Hosting in the European Union

Your files are encrypted and stored in Europe, with a European hosting provider. No transfer to a third country without a legal basis.

Strong encryption

The keys that protect your files and data are held in a European key management service and rest on a standardised post-quantum algorithm (ML-KEM-1024, NIST FIPS 203).
